Rating in Movies

WALT write a reflection about articles we have read in the news.

Today we were assigned to read an article that Ms Komor gave us to read. The Article was about the Ratings in Movies. Not the type of ratings where you say whether you enjoyed it or not, the type of rating where the editors think it's appropriate enough for us to watch. Mainly the article was about a woman who made a complaint that her child had come home telling her that his teacher let them watch "Pitch Perfect" which was rated Over-13 years of age when the boy was under the age of 13. Also because the movie contains "Bad Language" and "Inappropriate Scenes" when really there's nothing bad or inappropriate about it.

It also said something about how "Swearing" shouldn't be something to worry about or to punish about. Movies shouldn't have to be rated because of the language in the movie. If the language is not suitable for your child or for you, then just don't watch it. That's the deal.Image result for Emojis

It's the same with reality. Movies are rated according to the use of "Bad Language" or the amount of clothing the actors and actress are actually wearing, or if there's examples of people dealing drugs or being violent towards each other. Those two are acceptable because they're illegal. Taking drugs can mess with your health system and violence is something that shouldn't be going on but...... they're just movies and not reality. People shouldn't be basing things from movie on things that actually matter like health issues or big decision making.

For the author, the personally doesn't like horrors because they creep him out. He doesn't like the blood in them or something like that. HE said that just because he's 40 years old,  he didn't wanna say only 40+ is allowed to watch horror movies. That's just wrong. Movies shouldn't be rated because of 1 person's perspective, it should just be up to the parent's about what their kids watch.

The article wasn't an argument, it was a statement. And it said that all of us have watched a movie with swearing in it (according to age rating). So really, the rating system isn't effective to anyone at all.

After the article we were told turn the page and answer some questions. Questions like "Why do movies have ratings?" and others. One thing I enjoyed about this task was that the topic was interesting and the way the author wrote was incredible. One thing I didn't enjoy was because the activity was all on paper ( apart from this reflection).
